The Contradiction in Dr. Bawumia's Stance on Running Mates

In the ever-evolving landscape of Ghanaian politics, consistency and integrity are paramount. The electorate deserves leaders who not only possess these qualities but also demonstrate them through their actions and words. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and the leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has recently come under scrutiny for what many perceive as a glaring contradiction in his stance on the importance of running mates.


Years ago, Dr. Bawumia made a compelling argument that resonated with many Ghanaians. He stated unequivocally that "if you have the best running mate, but you, the leader, are incompetent, dishonest, and corrupt, that best running mate is useless." This statement underscored the critical importance of the leader's integrity and competence over the qualifications of their running mate. It was a powerful assertion that leadership must begin with the person at the helm.


Fast-forward to the present day, and Dr. Bawumia has selected his running mate, presenting them to Ghanaians as the best choice. This move raises an important question: How does Dr. Bawumia reconcile his past statements with his current actions? If the competence and integrity of the leader are paramount, then the qualifications of his running mate should not overshadow his own performance and ethical standards.


The people of Akuapem North, and indeed all Ghanaians, must scrutinize this apparent inconsistency. It is essential to ask whether Dr. Bawumia's selection of his running mate is a genuine endorsement of their abilities or an attempt to divert attention from his own shortcomings. The electorate deserves leaders who are transparent, consistent, and true to their word.


In light of this, the upcoming December 7 elections present a crucial opportunity for the people of Akuapem North to make their voices heard. It is a chance to vote against what appears to be an indecisive and potentially contradictory stance by Dr. Bawumia. Instead, voters can choose a leadership that embodies the principles of integrity and competence.


John Mahama and John Evans represent an alternative vision for Ghana. Their leadership promises a commitment to transparency, honesty, and effective governance. By voting for them, the people of Akuapem North can signal their desire for a government that values consistency and upholds the highest standards of leadership.


In conclusion, Dr. Bawumia's past statements about the importance of the leader's integrity and competence must be weighed against his current actions. The people of Akuapem North have the power to hold their leaders accountable and to choose a path that aligns with their values. On December 7, let your vote reflect a demand for consistency, integrity, and genuine leadership.

John Evans Kumordzi was officially confirmed as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE). The confirmation took place at the Municipal Assembly Hall in Akropong amidst intense political activity and public interest. The proceedings began at exactly 1:00 PM, with 48 assembly members comprising 32 elected and 16 government appointees present to cast their votes. As required by the Local Government Act, the nominee needed to secure at least two-thirds majority, translating to 32 votes, for confirmation.
