The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially opened nominations for its upcoming branch elections in the Eastern Region, signalling the start of a critical reorganisation process aimed at strengthening the party from the grassroots.
According to the official timetable, the picking of nomination forms will run from 2nd May to 16th May 2026, while the branch elections are scheduled between 20th May and 30th June 2026. Party members seeking to contest are expected to take advantage of this window to file their nominations and prepare for the internal democratic exercise.
Speaking to the media, Hon. Bismark Tawiah Boateng, popularly known as Otafrigya and an aspiring Eastern Regional Chairman, stressed that the success of the party’s reset agenda depends heavily on the quality of leadership elected at the branch level.
“As we work towards resetting the Eastern Region, the process must begin from the grassroots—the branches,” he stated. “With the party reorganisation now underway, it is our responsibility to elect competent executives who will, in turn, elect capable constituency executives for the welfare and progress of the party.”
The branch elections will fill key executive positions including Chairperson, Secretary, Organizer, Youth Organizer, Women Organizer, Communication Officer, Treasurer, and additional executive members. These positions are considered vital in mobilising support, coordinating party activities, and maintaining strong engagement at the community level.
In line with internal party requirements, members are also encouraged to remain in good standing by paying their dues using the official shortcode *920*25#, as only active and compliant members are eligible to participate fully in the electoral process.
Hon. Boateng further called on party faithful to prioritize competence, loyalty, and commitment when choosing their leaders, noting that the strength of the NDC at the constituency, regional, and national levels is rooted in effective branch leadership. He also took the opportunity to wish all aspirants the very best of luck ahead of the elections, urging them to conduct their campaigns with unity and respect.
Political watchers believe that this reorganisation exercise presents a significant opportunity for the NDC to rebuild, energize its base, and position itself strongly for future electoral victories.
As the nomination period progresses, enthusiasm continues to build across the Eastern Region, with party members expected to actively engage in shaping a more vibrant and formidable NDC from the ground up.
