Koforidua-Asokore Zongo in the New Juabeng North Constituency of the Eastern Region was filled with grace and celebration this weekend as family, friends, and dignitaries gathered to witness the naming ceremony of the son of Haruna Apaw Wiredu, Deputy Managing Director (Operations/Technical) of Metro Mass Transit Ltd. The ceremony, beautifully adorned in white, symbolized purity, thanksgiving, and the joy of welcoming new life.

The presence of Hon. Bismark Tawiah Boateng added honor and significance to the occasion. Known for his humility, strong community ties, and unwavering dedication to service, Hon. Boateng joined the Wiredu family to celebrate this important milestone. His appearance “in white” held a deeper cultural meaning. Just a week prior, he had attended over four funerals, mourning with families and showing solidarity in times of sorrow. This weekend, however, the white attire signified a joyful transition — a time to celebrate, give thanks, and embrace hope. The moment reflected the proverb: “Life turns in seasons — there is a time to mourn, and a time to rejoice.”

The naming ceremony, conducted in accordance with cherished Ghanaian tradition, emphasized identity, heritage, and the communal responsibility of guiding a child into society. Prayers were offered for wisdom, protection, and a purposeful life for the newborn, reminding all present that every child is a blessing to both family and community.

Hon. Bismark Tawiah Boateng used the occasion to highlight the fundamental role of family as the foundation of development and nation-building. He encouraged the parents to raise the child with values of truth, integrity, humility, respect, and a sense of service — virtues that strengthen character and leadership.

As Hon. Boateng prepares to contest in the upcoming NDC Regional Chairmanship elections, his presence at community gatherings such as this continues to reflect his leadership philosophy — leadership rooted among the people. His ability to stand with families in both grief and joy demonstrates empathy, commitment, and a deep understanding of community values.

Haruna Apaw Wiredu, widely acknowledged for his professionalism and leadership at Metro Mass Transit Ltd, expressed profound appreciation to Hon. Boateng for honoring the occasion. He described the gesture as a testament to true friendship, brotherhood, and leadership that extends beyond official responsibilities.

The ceremony ended with shared smiles, heartfelt gratitude, and a renewed sense of unity and cultural pride. It was a day that highlighted family, leadership, community, and the celebration of life — a reminder that even in a world of challenges, there is always cause for joy and hope.
