A Great Loss to Akuapem North: Otafrigya Mourns Late Hon. Isaac Batsa Hamillin (Wagon)

Deep sorrow and painful emotions engulfed the Adawso Market Centre on Wednesday, 27th May 2026, as party faithful, sympathizers, friends, and family gathered for the one-week observation of the late Hon. Isaac Batsa Hamillin, popularly known as “Wagon,” who until his untimely demise served as the Secretary of the Akropong Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The late Hon. Batsa Hamillin was widely known as a hardworking, loyal, humble, and selfless party servant whose dedication to the growth and strengthening of the NDC at the grassroots level earned him admiration and respect across the Akuapem North Municipality and the Eastern Region at large.
The solemn gathering brought together several distinguished personalities, including the Eastern Regional Chairman, Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor, former Eastern Regional Chairman, Hon. Bismark Tawiah Boateng, popularly known as “Otafrigya,” current and former regional executives, constituency executives, branch executives, church members, coordinators, and party supporters who all came to mourn the painful loss of a committed comrade.
Also present was the Member of Parliament for Akropong Constituency, Hon. Sammi Awuku, accompanied by constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and several coordinators, demonstrating unity, respect, and solidarity in honour of the deceased.
Hon. Otafrigya described the late constituency secretary as one of the most dedicated and selfless individuals the party had ever produced within the constituency. According to him, Hon. Batsa Hamillin devoted his life, strength, and time to the service of the National Democratic Congress and remained committed to the welfare of party members until his very last breath.
Hon. Otafrigya noted that the death of Hon. Isaac Batsa Hamillin has created a huge vacuum not only within the Akropong Constituency but across the entire Eastern Region, stressing that his absence would be deeply felt by both party executives and grassroots members.
He further emphasized that the late Hon. Batsa Hamillin was a pillar of unity, discipline, and sacrifice whose leadership and commitment contributed immensely to the organization and progress of the party within the constituency.
According to Hon. Otafrigya, the late constituency secretary remained steadfast and hardworking even during difficult moments, sacrificing his comfort and personal time for the advancement of the party. He added that the deceased’s life and dedication should serve as a source of inspiration to the younger generation within the political space.
This painful tragedy is indeed a massive blow to the Akuapem North Municipality, as the late Hon. Isaac Batsa Hamillin also served as the DRIP Coordinator for the municipality and played an instrumental role in mobilization and party activities across the area.
Reports indicate that the unfortunate incident occurred on Monday, 18th May 2026, while he was on an official party assignment during the registration of nomination forms for NDC party members. Painfully, Hon. Isaac Batsa Hamillin died while serving the great National Democratic Congress — a heartbreaking sacrifice that has left many party faithful devastated.
The atmosphere throughout the observation was filled with tears, grief, and reflection as tributes continued to pour in from party executives, branch members, friends, and loved ones who remembered the deceased as courageous, respectful, approachable, and fully committed to the cause of the party.
Though gone too soon, the memory, sacrifices, and unwavering dedication of the late Hon. Isaac Batsa Hamillin will forever remain in the hearts of the people of Akuapem North and the National Democratic Congress.
